My home is in La Belle Province as it is so affectionately known to those who live here and love it. As Canadians, I am sure you hear horrible things about our province of Québec, and you may have even heard some from me. But Québec is my home. It is the place that raised my husband, taught him to be who he is, and accepted us when we returned - with open arms!
Do I get frustrated sometimes with a language barrier for me? Yes.
Should I take a french course to help solve that problem? Yes.
Do I live in a French community with only 3% english? Yes.
Are my neighbours, bank tellers, pizza delivery men, grocery clerks- all French? Yes.
Are they all amazing with me? Yes.
Are they kind to listen, to help me, and to encourage me? YES.
Do I miss home, (i.e.. the simplicity of living in English Canada)? Yes.
Am I happy to live in Québec? Yes.
Do I feel like an honorary Québecer? Somedays- other days I feel like a foreigner in my own house. Although, I am not sure that has anything to do with where I live :)
Happy Saturday!
Share the love,
M.
