down. town.

I'm feeling a little down today, can't quite get going on anything, pouting a little. Do you have days like that? I'd like to blame it on the fact that I put perfume on this morning and I don't smell like myself. (do you think that is even actually possible? change your smell change your mood?)

So as creatives, what do you do when you get down and feeling pouty and unproductive?  Give a little shout out- this girlio is down town and needs a ride home ;)

Floating Logo

Check out this video. I had the opportunity to create this logo for the Breastfeeding Community of Practice in Nova Scotia. I am so impressed with what they are doing! You'll see my logo bouncing and floating around - enjoy! And remember, MAKE BREASTFEEDING YOUR BUSINESS.

I have the coolest job.

Long Weekend Babble...

Long weekend. What does that mean to you? Time off to play, hang out, read that book, mow the lawn, dig up the garden, beer? Yup, yup and yup, to all of the above...and more.

The more on my end includes work. I think I ought to change the name of what I do,  from work to creating, because I really don’t consider what I do work. I mean yes, it pays the bills, so technically it is work. But I love it so much I want to do it all the time. It is kind of ridiculous.  I’m not sure there is an off button for the creatives...
Have you found your off button? Because if you have, please, tell me where it’s located so that I too might be able to stay away from work (my addiction/passion).

On that note, fellow Canucks, I sure hope you are having an amazing weekend! Light the fire, grab a beer- three cheers for Queen Victoria :)

Boppin'

So today is a focused work from home day for me. Which actually means; work in pjs, drink too much coffee, use laptop in ergonomically incorrect lazyboy chair, forget to eat, remember to eat, eat, and eventually shower. I've gotten plenty done so far, but my creative juices are running a little low. So as I was scouring around istock.com I found this little runt. I needed him. He was getting exactly what I needed: A loving boost. Thought I would share, from my comfy chair, in my pjs, not showered, hopped up on caffeine. Hope your Thursday is boppin'!

So Monday Snuck Up On You Too?

Alright, I have to admit working from home has its perks. I am not home all the time, but it is by far my favourite place to work. It may be because I can do so in my pajamas and not be judged. I think if I tried walking into work in my PJs, someone might just say something. Although, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how it could possibly be anything other than “Ohmygoodness, I wish I had worn my PJs today too!”
But working from home has a downside too. I never thought I would admit this. The downside of working from home is that work is always looming, ready, and waiting to pounce. Which means, Monday sneaks up on you because you worked all day Saturday and Sunday and forgot to take a weekend.
Ever happened to you? It has me. I am trying to get it under control, not working as much, making sure I take the proper amount of time off to do stuff like watch tv. Or even more important stuff like getting my butt on my bike (which I love- especially in the summer when there is an ice cream cone waiting for me halfway through my ride).
In the early 1900’s people worked 10 hour days, but after figuring out that people produced the same amount in an 8 hour day, companies cut back-saving them mucho dinero.
“Now we know from our experience in changing from six to five days and back again that we can get at least as great production in five days as we can in six… Just as the eight hour day opened our way to prosperity, so the five day week will open our way to a still greater prosperity.” — Henry Ford
If it was good enough for Henry Ford, its good enough for me. I’m thinking I’ll cut it down to a 5 hour day, about three days a week, with lots and lots of coffee breaks. You?
