Hope.

Hope...

"Hope deferred makes the heart grow sick",  I am very aware of this verse and very aware of how repeating it to yourself can actually make you sick. My very wise Mama always reminds me to finish off the rest of this verse... "But desire fulfilled is a tree of life" (Prov. 13:12)- 
A TREE OF LIFE!

LIFE.

It's like Christmas... Christmas is a time of hope, not because of what is coming, but because of what has already come.

I wanted to share this print with you, because in my life, holding onto hope is important... I've written about hope before, I've shared my hopeless feelings, and my feelings of hope... and how sometimes I white knuckling hope, grasping on pathetically... or heroically- my view changes depending on the day.

But if you are in the midst of hoping for something, waiting for something, don't give up hope... hold on (this is a reminder to myself as well) hold on ...because when that desire is fulfilled it is a tree of life.

Let Your Light Shine!

We are healthy, happy, living on rice or matoke (mashed green bananas), beans, and love. We are having an incredible time, our eyes have been opened, our hearts are being changed every day- it's an amazing opportunity, we know we will forever be changed.

Being here has opened up my eyes to just how much good work people are doing, everyone I talk to about their projects, Children's Villages, Baby Homes, Medical Clinics always point up and say: only because of Him.

It really does boggle the mind, no one takes credit for the things they are doing here- changing lives- one person at a time, it is by God's grace and His provision. We are so blessed to be able to see the good works of the people and are encouraged to even give more, do more, and share more. It is incredible so far.

You know it doesn't matter what you are doing, as long as you are doing something.
Continue to share your hearts and do good works!

Share the Love.

Why do I always sign off Share the love ?

Because I believe we are made of love, and for love.  I believe love should be the answer no matter the question. I believe it ought to be what we give, even when we have nothing to give. I believe the more we give, the more we have.

Am I good at this all the time? no. Is love always my first response? no. Should it be? yes. Am I working on it? Yes. When I sign off Share the love, am I reminding myself to share the love... yes.

We were not created to be perfect, we were created to be... and then Jesus said, the most important thing ever... first,  Love God...  and second and equally as important,  Love your neighbour as yourself (Matt 22:36-40)

So Love, love God,
Love your Neighbour,
and try to filter your life through love- what does that even look like?

Fear-Love

"My Fear is Silenced in Your Love"

Lately I've been listening to music while I work- generally I work in silence... but I found working in silence my mind wanders and I focus on stupid stuff... so I've started listening to uplifting music. It's changed my thought process... I hear the words and I find myself muttering them under my breath, as if they are an unconscious heart cry... these words: 'my fear is silenced in your love' - they came out unconsciously and then they became conscious... and I kept saying them over and over again... my fears are silenced in your love... silenced... quieted, drowned out... gone... peace...love...joy.

It's true... "perfect love casts out fear..." 1 John 4:18, and when I am fearful, anxious, worried, you know just being human in the world we live in... I quote that verse.

Some of you may not know these verses, you may not know Jesus or the Bible... and that's ok. This isn't to make you do what I do. This is how I get through life, these are the cries if my heart. If you are looking for something,  I want to encourage you... to find peace... to focus on the beautiful in life.

I quote this verse as a daily reminder to my mind "fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Phil 4:8

You don't need to be anything other than human to find the wisdom in focusing on the positive in life... So today I encourage you to whisper the thoughts of your heart, to focus on the beautiful, to know that there is someone out there who cares... and I'll pray for you that you find peace... joy, and love in your life.

When I feel like I'm working hard, striving, trying to make things happen, this song always runs through my head...

Consider the lilies,

Spring, Easter, Amazing Grace + Jesus.

It's spring. I write this and giggle a little as fluffy white snowflakes swirl softly to the snow covered ground. It's Spring. I tell myself. It's Spring! My heart believes it, because Easter is coming, that special time of the year when I celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

You may not believe in this, and that's ok... I do. And it is a heavy, exciting time of the year for me. It's filled with hope and expectation, anticipation and gratitude. I try my hardest to follow the words of Jesus. Even if you see Him only as a man- He was a great man, who spoke of love, and love, and more love. His mandate is to love. So ya, I love Him.  (do I fail miserably at loving (amongst many other things)? yes-daily,  and not just once, but more times that I have fingers and toes to count on).
But am I ok with that... yup... most days.

Love.

Yup that day is coming up where everyone tries to prove to everyone else that they love them... ( I am only slightly teasing) and I love, love. So It is a great day- like I've said before in our house, it goes down slightly differently than in some others.

But What exactly is love? What does it mean? What did it mean when we say for better or worse?

This week has me contemplating that, because on a small scale I am pretty helpless this week. I fell, I sprained my left ankle and busted up my right knee- seriously, had they been on the same leg, I do believe life would have been different, but alas they were not). So I have been confined to my chair, with everything I need to work, and not starve to death, within reach (thanks to my Hubby).

It is such a tiny thing, but to me it is huge.  My Husband has taken care of me. It's a weird feeling to have to be helped in everything you do. It's a scary feeling of what the future might look like as we get older... and It's really hard for me to admit I need help. 

When I think about it... Love, this Love thing, this real love thing- What does it actually mean?

It can't be put any better than how Paul said it in the book of Corinthians:

Love Bears all things -everything, the heavy, the light, there nothing too big or too small that real love cannot bear.

Love Believes all things -everything, for miracles too, believes with me, it believes for me, even when I cannot, love still does.

Love Hopes all things -now what exactly is hope... oh this is good... it is wishing for, expecting, desiring something... Biblically speaking, hope is a desire based on a promise from God (source)... Oh How I love the promises of God!

And my favourite...

Love Endures all things - handles them sometime with grace, sometimes with less grace... makes it through, grits its teeth, hunkers down, get's it done.

We like to see love as something that is fluffy and light and happy (and sometimes wrapped up with fat cherubs shooting arrows + hearts), but Love is strong, and it is hard, and it is heavy, and it is powerful, and it has more grit and more intensity than a raging ocean...  


I hope you have love in your life...
be it the Love of a parent, the love of a friend, the love of a husband or wife, the love of a child...
