Right now, where you are, not waiting for anything else, not waiting to lose the weight, to get more practice, to be older, to look younger, right now. Just Bloom.

No matter the circumstance that you feel is keeping you from being you, being your best you- let me define that for a moment, because being your best you, doesn't by any mean being perfect, all it means is being your true you. Just be you.

I love that old saying, 33% will, 33% won't, and 33% won't care- no matter what you try in life, a new hair cut, weight loss, sharing your art, selling your handy work- no matter what you do in life, the truth is... some will like it, some won't like it, and many just won't care.

So if those are the odds, what are you waiting for?

Body Break! Take A Break from Society.

Do you remember Hal and Johanne, who used to do Body Break! in the 80's. If you aren't sure what Body Break is, i'm sure you can youtube it, but it was a minute or so commercial on tv that taught you something healthy, this was just at the beginning of the health craze that has since taken over every aspect of our lives. Oh my goodness... it is crazy.

Anyway this year the hubby and I decided to make changes that makes our body's happy, for me, that means playing squash, throw in some weight lifting and the elliptical/treadmill, about 4-6 times a week (when I am not injured from falling off said treadmill). Now, let's be clear here, this body is made for comfort not for speed... I'm  built more like a Cadillac than a F1 race car, and I'm ok with that. But I also know that air plane seats are getting smaller as they try to pack more of us on a flight than every before. So on that note, I want to make sure I fit nicely into a seat for our long (long, long, long) flight to Uganda this fall. Duy and I also talked a lot about living a long time, apparently I feel like I'm going to live forever and Duy, well he is happy with his biblical allotment 70 years or so. Me- I scream and balk at the idea of only having 70 years. I have way too much to do, and so much to give that I just don't think one lifetime will be enough- but I digress...

We are soul/spirit beings that are housed in beautiful bodies that come in all shapes, sizes and colours... Make sure you don't judge yourself on your package... the gift lies within. In our society it is hard not to be hard on ourselves. I just want to remind you- be kind to you, take care of you, and love you. You are a miracle and you are here for a purpose, whatever that may be... you are awesome.

Live & Let Live...

In the same style and spirit of yesterdays post, here is another life lesson I've learned over the years. Probably because I want people to let me be me... but also because I have a tendency to *think* I know what you should be doing too!

Oy... seriously humbling when you put it out there for the world to read. *Sometimes* I think I know better than you, and how you should be living your life. But you want to know the silver lining to this beautiful Life Lesson? I don't, I don't know better than you do! I don't know all of the details of your life, I don't need to know all of the details of your life, it's your life. As a friend, a family member, a co-worker, a human... What I do need to know, is that you are ok. Period.

And in the spirit of honesty, I have learned many of my life lessons the hard way :)
Get authentic, be real with yourself- it is kinda freeing to not have to pretend you are perfect - trust me I know, I am the least perfect person out there, I make mistakes all the time, and you know what- I am ok with that...

I Wake Up Awesome.

'tis true! I do, well if loud equals awesome then I do...
I wake up wide awake, fires a roaring, ready to go- you know all of that stuff about no talkie before coffee... it's a myth in my house, I start talking the moment my eyes open. I'm not a quiet morning person, although I like others to be quiet while I meander about making my coffee, humming and singing and well, just being me.

Drives the hubby crazy.

How about you? Do you wake up awesome? Even quiet wakers can be awesome wakers :)

I made this print for my niece Kiki- She is awesome - all. the. time. She's a quiet waker, just watching, listening, but you can see the sparkle in her eyes the moment she opens them. She wakes up awesome. Quietly awesome.  This one's for you Kiki, Auntie Miss-Miss misses you a lot! a. lot.

So I'm sharing this one for all of the loud wakers, the quiet wakers, the mountain shakers and the moment makers...

The Big Kahuna !

I know myself pretty well, and I am a list maker. But if I have a list that looks impossible to finish, I get myself overwhelmed and then my 'go to' is to take a nap, leave the house, or curl up on the couch and pout. So when I found a to do list that made sense to me, I wanted to share it.

I like to tackle 1 Big Kahuna a day, 3 kinda big things, and 5 little things. I can organize my entire week by printing off bunch of these and dating them accordingly:

1 Big Kahuna:
- A Blog Post
- A new graphic design project
- etc.

3 Kinda Big things:
- invoice clients
-finish a project
-organize the office
-meet a client
-teach a class

5 Little things:
- go get the mail
- make supper
- load and unload the dishwasher, do a load of laundry, etc.
- finish reading that article I started last week
- clean the bathroom

Disclaimer: Sometimes my 1 Big Kahuna is to take a nap without feeling guilty :)
