Follow Your Own Arrow.

Sometimes we get caught up in comparing our lives to others. Peeking in and seeing what they have and desiring it. Trying to mimic, copy and be like them (I am guilty of this more than I'd like to admit).

This causes us not to see the beautiful human that we were created to be...  instead of desiring to be like others, just be you, be uniquely you.  In the wise words of Oscar Wilde;

'Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.'

Of course, learn and be inspired by others, but be true to you. In the world we live in, it is easier said than done. So follow your own arrow... point it to your true north, and follow it.

Frankly Darling...

I don't give a hoot.
Whoo me?
Nope I never feel like this.
Ever. I always care.

Ok, I'm lying- sometimes I just don't give a hoot. I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately... I often worry about things that aren't any of my business, my concern, or anything I need to even be thinking of.  Do you find yourself tangled up in this web of 'false responsibility' because it makes you feel valuable or worthy?

I've taken to reminding myself often "not my circus, not my monkeys" sometimes I have to say "not my circus, yes my monkeys" and still have to let it play out as it will.

I can't control everything, cause If I could, let me tell you... lol no, seriously- sometimes we just have to stop, let it go, and not give a hoot how it turns out for our own sanity! Sometimes we women tend to try to fix everything, for our spouses, our children, our friend's children, our parents - and the list goes on! But you know what... you don't have to fix the neighbourhood... you just have to live in it :)

I mean of course apathy sucks! That we take no part in- for causes that we need to stand for, we stand! For changes that we can make, we make! To fight the good fight, we fight! - I'm not talking about this sort of thing, I'm talking about the little stuff that we burden ourselves with, the stuff that tires us out so that when we do need to fight, apathy is just an easier choice.

What are you concerned about today that you need to let go of? What responsibilities are you carrying that really aren't yours to carry, but because you are such a good person, you took it over?
What do you need to say "Frankly darling, I don't give a hoot" about today?

Let it go... breathe... the world didn't fall apart- nope it's not easy, it sucks to not be in control all the time, but on the other hand, the freedom that it brings is marvellous!

Wanderlust

It's kinda crazy around here... I just got home, now I'm preparing to jump on a plane again... 

This year I've travelled by Train, Plane, Automobile and Boat... all I need is a donkey and my repertoire of travel methods will be full !

It has been a whirlwind, and it continues to be...  2015 may or may not settle down, and I may or may not be excited about it either way- full of travel, or full of home time, I can't decide yet. But I do know that my heart and mind are open to both...

Wanderlust : is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world. 

Usually my wanderlust keeps me wandering around my back field imagining it full of cows. I used to do this when I was little and I still find myself daydreaming about it now :)

So this one is for all of you who desire to see the world, or who just wander around your back field- or for those of you who just let your mind wander...

Good Morning!

I'm away from home... again :)  this is becoming a habit of mine!

I've been thinking about this year, it seems we've been all over the place, and we will be until the end of the year, and then 2015 holds a whole new bag of tricks! New places, new people, AFRICA  (I'm so excited about this!) and more than I could even imagine I'm sure...

This year, I've learned that all things are possible, if you can dream them, think of them and believe for them... nothing is impossible. Everything is possible!

Can you just make it appear? No
Do you need to work for it? Yes.
Makes plans? Yes.
Work the plan? Yes.
Take baby steps and just keep going? Yes.
Is it even possible? YES!

I made this little reminder: whatever you can think of,  believe for and work towards is possible! 

Remember you can do anything you set your mind and heart to!

If You Experience The Whole Gamut; You Might be Married.

Last night we finally went out to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary... this is a little about how it went; normal conversation, debate about an idea (which we may or may not ever have to deal with) passionate conversation, slightly heated conversation, ( um teeny tiny) tears- because when I get all passionate and serious little tears well up in my eyes, laughter, long pause- Duy got an alert that Robin Williams had passed away-, silence, long pause, tears, laughter, shopping, then home for a viewing of Good Morning Vietnam in honour of our beloved Robin.

If you are married, you might recognize this as "normal". I don't even know what normal is, but what I do know is,  if you are still passionate about ideas in your marriage- still wanting to have discussions about what may or may not happen, still love talking about a future together- this one is or you...

No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

You & Me.

I made this for me. A reminder to myself and others that even though we have no children (yet)... we are a family. We are a family made up of you & me, and that is ok.

Enjoy the Ride.

So I've been in China now for 2 weeks, and did it ever take a toll on my mental wellbeing. I got here full of expectations, feeling like I needed to see and do everything. I'm not technically here on a vacation. My Hubby is here working (6 days a week, 12 hours a day), and because he had already been gone a month, and they extended his contract, I decided to get on a plane.

Did I have an expectations?
Yes. To see China.
Do you know how BIG China is?

Yes. To meet people.
Do you have any idea of the language barrier?
I speak English and French, I can understand some Spanish and a tiny bit of Italian (basically food stuff), even little Romanian with hand gestures, but Mandarin. No. Nothing, nada, nope, pardon, pardon, pardon... ya I'm still not getting that, here let me get my phone and find my Mandarin app and see if I can try to tell you what I need.

Did I put a lot of pressure on myself to be an amazing tourist? Yes.
Did I have a long talk with myself and make myself relax about doing, wanting, and trying? Yes.

Has my stay been peaceful, wonderful, and uneventful since then? Yes.
Am I happy? YES.

Have I seen all there is to see in China? No. You would need a lifetime to do that, and then some. Have a met some wonderful people? Yes. Can I tell you how much I like Edison. Is he one of my favourite Taicang-ites, ever? Yes. Does he make my day when he comes up and say "Hewo"?  Yes. Will I remember him forever? Absolutely.

So I guess what I'm trying to say, is stop trying. Just enjoy the ride. Get rid of the expectations and just live. Life is about living, loving and being... you are not anymore valuable because you do things... just be you.

Enjoy the Ride.
