I used to live in Calgary, and I loved every minute of it... This week the Calgary Stampede is happening and I was asked if I'd make a little something in celebration...

Oh Canada Version 2
Happy Birthday Canada!
148 years old today and looking good!
Born 1867
July 1, 1867 Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia joined together to create our beautiful Dominion of Canada... not until later did other provinces join the fun, Manitoba and The Northwest Territories 1870, British Columbia 1871, Prince Edward Island 1873, The Yukon Territory 1898, followed by Saskatchewan and Alberta in 1905 and we were not fully complete until 1949 when NewFoundland joined Canada and filled in the missing piece of our puzzle. In 1999 a beautiful new Territory was born in our True North Strong and Free and we welcomed Nunavut with opened arms and happy hearts. (date and information source)
Oh Canada,
You are big,
You are beautiful,
and you are full of amazing people.

Oh Canada.
Sometimes it's fun to perpetuate the idea that only Lumberjacks live up here in Canada. My Gramps was a lumberjack. He use to cut wood with a saw, he told me the story of his first experience with a chainsaw- it was a Husqvarna. To this day he still wears orange Husqvarna suspenders to keep his pants up.
Yup, so some of us up here are true Lumberjacks.... But either way, if you've never been to Canada, you need to come, we live in a vast land of true northern beauty, with some of the prettiest cities in the world. Oh ya, and great coffee (Kicking Horse Coffee ) and ME!

Shhh... I'm Introverting.
I'm Home! Back to business in my own way. I had an awesome time on the other side of my beautiful Country. I never quite understood the weather difference between one side of Canada and the other, it is so different. I loved the green, the lushness, the tepid temperature... and I even enjoyed the rain. It was beautiful. No wonder they call it Beautiful British Columbia.
Now I'm home and getting back into the swing of things, back to my favourite chair, back to my office, back to my list of things to do, and back to introverting. I got to spend an entire week working with a friend on a really big project, and life, and living, etc. It was awesome, and today back in my own little world... I hibernate.
It's going to be awesome.

Eat, Drink & Be Thankful!
It's that time of year, October in Canada, where the trees are all turning yellow and red and we get to celebrate thanksgiving. We celebrate it, a month (plus some) earlier than our friends in the US, and I secretly love it! Canadians get to celebrate in October and then, because the world is so small- thanks to the internet, we get to continue celebrating until the end of November!
I love that in my life there are almost two months carved out for being grateful, reflective, and thankful. And that we get to celebrate this act of gratitude.
Yesterday was a terrible day in Canada. One of our own, Cpl. Nathan Cirillo (age 24) was shot while on honorary guard at the National War Memorial. It's a sad day in Canada, we are all rocked to the core with this horrible news... in this time of horror, it is hard to look into our hearts and choose gratitude instead of fear, retaliation, and hatred. But we must, we must. Hatred breeds hatred... Love breeds gratitude and gratitude breeds love. I am so grateful to those men and women who put their lives on the line daily for our country and for other countries (maybe our Peace Keepers have even put their lives on the line for your country). I am grateful for the men and women who are first responders in emergency situations -who put their lives on the line for us every day. I am grateful for the people who stand for us and with us in times like these. I pray peace over our Nation and over your Nation...
In all things, give thanks... even in times like these...

Lyrics O Canada (English version)
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Lyrics O Canada (French version)
« O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits. »

Awesome Adventures.
I fly away to China in a few days (!!) and I am expecting Awesome Adventures. I can't wait. I'm nervous and excited and full of anxiety. It is going to be amazing, right?. It is freaking scary. I am a bundle of nerves and excitement.
I made this print to encourage myself- thought maybe it would encourage you too... are you up for any awesome adventures?
Let's go have awesome adventures!!
What's on your agenda for the day, the month, the year?
My first adventure of the day is to get showered and outta my house- seriously, all adventures aren't necessarily huge- some are just ordinary and awesome in their own way :)

Made In Québec.
My home is in La Belle Province as it is so affectionately known to those who live here and love it. As Canadians, I am sure you hear horrible things about our province of Québec, and you may have even heard some from me. But Québec is my home. It is the place that raised my husband, taught him to be who he is, and accepted us when we returned - with open arms!
Do I get frustrated sometimes with a language barrier for me? Yes.
Should I take a french course to help solve that problem? Yes.
Do I live in a French community with only 3% english? Yes.
Are my neighbours, bank tellers, pizza delivery men, grocery clerks- all French? Yes.
Are they all amazing with me? Yes.
Are they kind to listen, to help me, and to encourage me? YES.
Do I miss home, (i.e.. the simplicity of living in English Canada)? Yes.
Am I happy to live in Québec? Yes.
Do I feel like an honorary Québecer? Somedays- other days I feel like a foreigner in my own house. Although, I am not sure that has anything to do with where I live :)
Happy Saturday!

M.

Coffee. That's what's up.
Good Friday Morning! I am sitting here enjoying my cup of coffee- I am currently a french press girl. I solely brew Kicking Horse Coffee*. I love the smooth deep flavour- if you haven't tried it, you should. My blend is the 454 Horsepower.
But this french press poses a problem, as the hubby doesn't know how to make it, nor does he want to learn. So no more waking up to the smell of freshly ground and brewed coffee... He flat out refuses to learn. He had just got the hang of the machine, and I then tried the french press. Seriously, I was hooked. I guess itsmy nobody's fault, really.
So how do you brew your coffee? I am looking for new ideas - share in the comments below!
Happy Friday!

*nope I am not sponsored by them, I do not get paid by them, I JUST LOVE THEM :)
-FYI : the black and white print can be printed on any colour paper :)

Christmas Silhouettes
Happy Tuesday!
Today is my first day off of from teaching in what feels like forever. It is nice when my contracts end and I have time to work on creative stuff and get my mind all prepped for Christmas!
I am also housebound, thanks to two flat tires and my car being in the shop :) - oh darn, house bound (no gallivanting, no shopping, no coffee with friends- all of which I love, all postponed 'til friday-shucks! which means 8 hours home alone with Timothy the Dog, my laptop and my creative mind- oy! I'm sooooooo excited!)
Anyhow, I wanted to share these super cute little Canadiana Silhouettes for cutting out :) black and white (can be printed on any paper and the stitching will be the colour of the paper you choose- or Canadiana plaid :)
Enjoy and...
