There are very few people in the world that will ever compare to moms... My mom is my best friend, I talk to her almost every day, and sometimes twice a day. She's the one I call when I need to know;

Does this look infected?
How do I cook rice?
What can I use for a coffee filter?
Do I have to add milk?
How much chocolate is too much chocolate?
How many bananas can a person eat a day?
What goes good with olives, garlic, macaroni? no seriously, that's all I've got in the house.
Well how often should I grocery shop?

Yup my mom, and when things aren't going right, I call her, when I'm feeling emotional, I call mom, when I have to make a decision, I call mom, when I need extra support, I call mom... and Mom always say... Let's pray Miss... I want to pray with you... and that changes everything no matter what's going on, my mom knows just what's needed and when it's needed... and I thank God every day for my Mom.

She's a rock, She an inspiration, and I appreciate her so much. I'm so grateful for my mom, every day.

Saddle up!

Yup you may know that one of my favourite quotes if from John Wayne
"Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway"

It's so true... and a new favourite for me, is this...
"Life is an adventure so saddle up!"

It's true, and sometimes I forget that my hubby and I have a wonderfully adventurous life, or we have for the past couple of years- and now the adventure continues. Sounds so glamorous right? Oh yes, it would be if this was a vacation, it would be amazing. This place is amazing. But this isn't a vacation, I'm reminded of that every day... it's just doing what I do in a new and wonderful place- which makes it an adventure! There is a language barrier, a culture barrier, a food barrier... it's full of barriers... but it's also full of smiles, and children saying 'hello, what is your name?" it's pretty sweet. I feel very happy to on this adventure...

We recently got in touch with an orphanage here, to see if it would be possible for us to visit and hopefully volunteer, and do life with people who are changing the world. Fingers crossed I'm hoping that we'll be able to visit with them and get to know them. But in the mean time, I'll get back to this adventurous life, of doing graphics for a client, checking on my blog, checking my Facebook, heading over to Etsy to make sure my products are all lined up and looking good, then I'll probably have a peanut butter sandwich, bring the laundry in off the line, start supper and sweep the floor... it's not glamorous, but it's mine, my adventure!

The Only One...

The only one for me is you, and you for me, so happy together! 

I've finally figured out how to make me a delicious cup of coffee over here in Vietnam, and this is an homage to the fact that I *might* have a love affair with coffee. 

I do love the ritual of making a cup of coffee, I love the smell of it, I love holding the warm mug, I love that first sip... everything about coffee means that my day is starting, that it will be a good day. I take my coffee with a side of reflection, quietness and peace... it's the quiet moments before the day begins. 

I think I appreciate my coffee so much because of the moments it represents. It's a conversation over a cup of coffee with friends, it's part of most of the memories I have with my friends.

It's what I'm holding when I hear "I've got something to tell you, I'm pregnant..." 

It's what I'm holding when the Hubby and I are reflecting on our life plans.

It's what I'm holding when I'm talking to my momma on the phone.

It's what I'm holding while pouring over my Bible.

It's what's brewing when my friends are on their way over... 

It's part of my every day life, and I love that part...

What is the thing that is part of your everyday life, the thing that you may not even notice- until it's gone...

Coffee.

I've got a little secret for you...
Coffee is my best friend, and croissants are a close second.

We've been in Vietnam now for just about 3 weeks, Vietnam is one of the worlds largest producers of coffee and I would admit, a ca phe sua da is absolutely delicious, but finding a simple black cup of coffee is proving to be difficult. Even more difficult than that, because if you know me, you know I don't leave the country without a kilo of my favourite kicking horse 454 horsepower coffee in tow, is finding a grinder. I've got coffee, I just can't find a grinder, nor a french press... But fear not, I am on the hunt.

But what I did find was a Starbucks, I know, I know some people would argue Starbucks coffee is not great coffee, and I'd be one of you whilst standing in my kitchen grinding my own beans, brewing a big pot of my favourite 454 horsepower in a french press, then sipping it out of my favourite mug- but here, far away from home, far from my grinder, far from my simple comforts (that I perhaps took for granted) Starbucks was an oasis in a the coffee desert for me.

So I picked up a pound of dark roast, and made myself a cup of coffee, (albeit in a Vietnamese metal coffee filter)- but I had a the first cup i've enjoyed at home since we've been here.

And what I realized is that, I love coffee a lot, and the simple things in life bring great pleasure and satisfaction, so don't take them for granted. Instead be grateful for all of the little things we do every single day that make us feel happy... Life is made of of simple little pleasures, take time to notice them!

Coffee is my Best Friend : Personal use only

Get it done.

Well as of tomorrow we will have been here for 3 Wednesday. Not too much is happening, we are just living life, enjoying the weather and trying to get back to 'normal' but in the mean time... sometimes I need a little kick in the pants... sometimes I need a reminder, just get it done. Just do it.

So here is a reminder for me and you, thanks to my friend Marisol who asked me to help her out with a print that will reminder to 'just do it'... This girl is in her final push before she finishes up her degree. I am so proud of her and her determination and the path that she is taking in her life, she's pretty awesome, and uber talented... (i've added her video below take a listen!)

Update from the other side!

Good morning... well it's afternoon here and I am currently working away on my Etsy shop, sitting in the middle of my new living room, right smack in front of the tv, with animal planet playing 35 inches from my face... I know, glamorous right?

You'd think being on the other side of the world in a new country I'd be out exploring and doing all the stuff you've got to do in a country before you leave. I hear that, I get it... but I also know I am not on vacation... I'm still working... just from new digs.  

So far I'm loving it here, the people, the heat, the food... I may have had the best croissant of my life the other night. The owner of the bakery where I buy our bread, gave me one to try. And since that day I've tried very hard not to buy one every time I go in... so far I've been successful. Not sure if I have the will power when I head over today... it's one of those days and just so you know how I'm feeling, I've made this sweet little print...
